Add a Gantt Curtain

Create one or more Gantt curtains and customize them according to your team's needs. You can add a Gantt curtain from the the Manage Views panel or directly from the Gantt chart on the Activities page while reviewing a project schedule.

Note: Gantt curtains must be enabled before you can display any Gantt curtains that you've added to a view.

To add a Gantt curtain on the Manage Views panel:

  1. Navigate to the Activities page
  2. Select Activities Grid Settings.
  3. In the Manage Views panel, select the Gantt tab.
  4. At the top of the panel, select the Curtains tab.
  5. Select Add to create a new curtain, and then customize it with the available options:
    1. Name: Add a name for the Gantt curtain.
    2. Description: Add a significant description for your project team. This description displays with the Name and Start and Finish dates when a user hovers over the curtain name.
    3. Start: Enter the starting point for the curtain to display.
    4. Finish: Enter a finishing point for the curtain to close.

      The default length of the curtain relates to the selected timescale. For example, if the timescale is set to Week/Day, then the default length is 1 week.

    5. Color: Apply a color to the curtain. The default selection is mint green.
    6. Opacity: Select an opacity level for your curtain. The range is 0 to 100%, with 100% being the default value.
    7. Visibility: Select this option to show or hide the curtain in Gantt view. When you create a new curtain, this option is selected by default.
  6. Apply the view:

    In the Manage Views panel:

    1. Select Save. When selected, you are saving all changes to the current view.
    2. Select Save As. When selected, you can create a new Personal, Project, or Workspace view with a new name in the Save View as window.
    3. Select Apply. When selected, you are returned to the grid. The grid displays any changes you have made; however, those changes are not saved. To save changes select Save or Save As in the View list.
    4. Select Reset.
    5. Select Close.

    In the Settings panel:

    1. Select Save.

To add a Gantt curtain from the Gantt chart on the Activities page:

  1. Navigate to the Activities page
  2. In the Layout menu, select Gantt.
  3. Right-click on the Gantt chart, select Curtains, and then select Add.
  4. In the Manage Curtain dialog, customize your curtain settings with the following options:
    1. Curtain Name: Add a name for the Gantt curtain.
      • Select Display Curtain Name to display the curtain name with the curtain.
    2. Curtain Description: Add a significant description for your project team. This description displays with the Name and Start and Finish dates when a user hovers over the curtain name.
    3. Start: Enter the starting point for the curtain to display.
    4. Finish: Enter a finishing point for the curtain to close.

    5. Color: Apply a color to the curtain. The default selection is green.
    6. Opacity: Select an opacity level for your curtain. The range is 0 to 100%, with the default being 100%.
    7. Display Curtain Attachment: Select this option to show or hide the curtain in Gantt view. When you create a new curtain, this option is selected by default.
  5. Select OK.
