Assign a Risk Matrix to a Project or Program

Assign a risk matrix to a project or program to calculate risk scores for threat and opportunity risks added to the risk register. The assigned risk matrix copies its data from a risk matrix template at the workspace level. You can edit threshold values on the assigned matrix without affecting the values at the workspace level.

To assign a risk matrix to a project or program:

  1. In the object selector, select Project or Program.
  2. In the object selector, beside an object name, select , and then select View Summary & Settings.
  3. On the Summary & Settings page, select Dictionaries, and then select Risk Matrix.
  4. On the Risk Matrix page, select Assign.
  5. In the Assign Risk Matrix dialog box, select a risk matrix, and select Select.
  6. In the Scoring Method list, select one of the following risk scoring methods:
    • Highest Impact: The overall impact for a risk is set to the highest of all the impacts assigned to the risk.
    • Average Impact: The overall impact is determined by calculating the average of all impact values.
  7. Select Save.

You can also start this task from the Risk Register page:

  1. In the object selector, select Project or Program, and then select a project or a program from the list.
  2. From the Main Menu, select Risk, and then select Risk Register.
  3. On the Risk Register page, select the Actions menu, and then select Assign Risk Matrix....

    Note: If the project already has a risk matrix assigned to it, the menu option reads View Risk Matrix.
