Add a Budget Planning Scenario Video
Create budget planning scenarios to determine the best group of projects to execute under budget constraints for a given planning period budget cycle. Creating scenarios to model the plan with different sets of criteria enables you to make more informed decisions.
Scenarios added to the Budget Planning page will also appear in the analysis views on the Selection Analysis page.
To add a scenario:
- In the object selector, select Portfolio, and then select View Portfolios List.
- Select a Portfolio name.
- From the Main Menu, select Cost and Funds, and then select Budget Planning.
- In the context bar, select the planning period menu, and select the planning year, which is either the current year or the subsequent year.
- Select the Actions menu, and then select Add Scenario... . If there are no existing scenarios, select the Add Scenario... button on the information screen.
- In the Add Scenario dialog box, enter a name for the scenario, and select Save.
You can also add a budget planning scenario from Manage Scenarios:
- From the Actions menu, select Manage Scenarios....
- In the Manage Scenarios dialog box, select Add.
- Enter the new scenario name, and select Save.
Tips
- All new scenarios have a status of In Planning. The status cannot be changed manually.
- For best performance, it is recommended to limit the number of projects in a portfolio to 10,000. Adjust the filter criteria to reduce the number of included projects.
