Task Plan Overview
Task Plan Overview Video
Add a task plan to the Work Plan page to help your project team visualize tasks and related activities that need to be accomplished throughout your project's lifecycle by arranging task cards on the planning board using swimlanes. When you add a task plan, you can identify swimlane categories that organize task cards by assigned user, company, activity code, task code, or Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). This will help your team more easily identify responsibilities and use the most efficient workload distribution during the planning phase. You can create multiple task plans and share them with your team, then manage their details as your project evolves. The name of the open task plan displays above the planning board, which is especially useful for teams working with several task plans.
Because a task plan can contain many shared objects, such as WBSs, the application makes it easy to collaborate with other users on your team who might be editing related items. For example, if another user deletes or reassigns a WBS that is used in a task plan, you'll receive a notification. The assignment will then shift to the newly designated or parent WBS node, depending on user selection.
Associate swimlanes with a task plan when you add the task plan on the Work Plan page from the Actions menu in the top toolbar. Enable full display of task cards with activities in swimlanes by selecting
Tasks and Activities, or select
Tasks Only to view only basic task cards in swimlanes on the planning board.
Note: You must have Configure Task Plan privileges enabled in Project permissions to add, edit or delete task plans.
