Align a Project or Program with a Strategy

Video

Align projects or programs with strategies to monitor the performance of the strategy nodes using the associated measures. A single project or program can be aligned to multiple strategy nodes.

Each time a project or program is aligned with a strategy, a strategic alignment score is calculated for it. The score, which takes into account a project's or program's alignment with its associated strategies and each strategy's weighting, indicates how aligned a project or program is with an organization's strategies. This can be useful in the project or program selection process. Strategic alignment scores are calculated at the workspace level and viewed at the project or program level.

To align a project or program with a strategy node:

  1. In the object selector, select Workspace, select View Workspaces List, and then select a workspace name.
  2. From the Main Menu, select Strategic Alignment, and then select Strategy List.
  3. Select the strategy node.
  4. In the Projects or Programs detail window, select Align Projects or Align Programs.
  5. In the Align Projects or Align Programs dialog box, select one or more projects or programs to associate with the strategy node, and select OK.
  6. Select Save.
  7. In the Projects or Programs detail window, in the Percentage Alignment column, enter the degree of alignment the project or program has to the strategy node.
  8. Select Save.

You can also do this at the project or program level.

  1. In the object selector, select Project or Program, and then select a project or a program from the list.
  2. From the Main Menu, select Strategic Alignment, and then select Strategy List.
  3. Select Assign.
